Justin Hayward (born Oct. 14, 1946) is an English vocalist, guitarist, and songwriter from Swindon, Wiltshire, best known as the 50-year frontman of The Moody Blues, which he joined in 1967 for their sophomoric release Days of Future Passed.
During a five-year pause in band activity, Hayward teamed with bandmate John Lodge for the 1975 Threshold release Blue Jays. In 1977, Hayward released his debut solo album Songwriter on Decca. The following year, he appeared on the all-star symphonic recordings The Eye of Wendor: Prophecies by Mandalaband and Jeff Wayne’s Musical Version of The War of the Worlds. Hayward continued to release solo material at sporadic intervals over the following four decades amid renewed band activity.
