Back Door

Back Door was an English jazz-rock and blues-rock trio that released four albums between 1972 and 1976 on Warner Bros.

Members: Colin Hodgkinson (bass, vocals), Ron Aspery (saxophone, keyboards, flute, clarinet), Adrian Tilbrook (drums), Tony Hicks (drums)


Back Door formed in Redcar, North Yorkshire, when bassist Colin Hodgkinson teamed with drummer Adrian Tilbrook and keyboardist–reedist Ron Aspery.

Colin Hodgkinson (b. October 14, 1945, in Peterborough, Cambridgeshire) played on the 1969 Island release Moves of Vegetable Centuries, the second of two albums by Micky Moody’s Tramline. He recently appeared on the 1971–72 albums Alexis and Bootleg Him! by elder British blues stalwart Alexis Korner.

Back Door

Back Door released their self-titled debut album in 1972 on self-press Blakey Records (UK only). In June 1973, it reappeared at home and abroad on Warner Bros.
