Midnight Flyer

Midnight Flyer was a British hard-rock/soul band that released a self-titled album on Swan Song in 1981. Scottish vocalist Maggie Bell hailed from rustic/soul-rockers Stone the Crows, which recorded four albums between 1970 and 1972. She also cut two solo albums in 1974/75 and sang backup on the Rod Stewart album Every Picture Tells a Story. Keyboardist Chris Parren cut an album apiece with the pop-psych band Forever Amber and the space-funk combo Locust; he also appeared on albums by Hudson-Ford, Ray Russell, and Andy MacKay.

Between 1975 and 1980, drummer Dave Dowle played on albums by Brian Auger’s Oblivion Express, Streetwalkers, Whitesnake, and Runner. Concurrent to the Midnight Flyer album, he appeared on Francis Monkman’s Dweller On the Threshold album. Guitarist Anthony Glynne subsequently played on albums by Mike Oldfield, Rick Wakeman, and Asia.
