The Rock Follies were an English vocal trio that starred in their own musical-drama series on ITV for two seasons during 1976 and 1977. Both seasons yielded soundtrack LPs comprised of songs performed during musical routines in the episodes. The music on both albums was written and produced by Roxy Music‘s Andy McKay.
During the series run, co-vocalist Julie Covington topped seven national charts with “Don’t Cry for Me Argentina,” the theme to the Tim Rice/Andrew Lloyd Webber musical Evita. In 1978, she voiced the character of Beth on Jeff Wayne’s Musical Version of The War of the Worlds and scored a second U.K. hit with a cover of Alice Cooper’s “Only Women Bleed.”
Members: Nancy “Q” Cunard de Longchamps [Rula Lenska], Devonia “Dee” Rhoades [Julie Covington], Anna Wynd [Charlotte Cornwell]
