The Screamers were an American synth-punk band from Los Angeles that was active on the local club scene between 1977 and 1981. The band released no material in their own time but were documented live on numerous dates, several of which were compiled with demo recordings on the double-CD In a Better World, issued by archivists Extravertigo in 2001. Frontman Tomata du Plenty is the subject of an iconic 1978 flyer illustration by cartoonist Gary Panter.
Members: Tomata du Plenty [David Xavier Harrigan] (vocals), Tommy Gear [aka Melba Toast] (synthesizer, vocals, 1977-79), K.K. Barrett (drums), David Brown (electric piano, 1977), Jeff McGregor (keyboards, 1977-78), Paul Roessler (keyboards, 1978-81)
