Cultural Noise

Cultural Noise was an Austrian electronic trio that released the 1980 CBS album Aphorisms Insane. Two-thirds of the band resumed as Bizarre Ko.Ko.Ko. Walter Heinisch appears on over 25 compilations on the Cosmos library label.

Inception

Cultural Noise formed with synthesists Gerhard Lisy and Karl Kronfeld teamed with guitarist–keyboardist Walter Heinisch. Lisy used ARP 2600 and VCS 3 synthesizers with ARP and EMS sequencers. Kronfeld worked with a Roland Studio System 700 and Roland analog sequencer. Heinisch combined Mellotron M400 and Micro Moog keyboards with electric guitar. The trio listed Lisy at Probst-Führerstraße 28 in St. Pölten as the group contact.

Heinisch also played synthesizer with the Vienna punk group Underground Corpses. Cultural Noise developed two extended pieces co-composed by Lisy and Heinisch with K. Weinwurm. The trio recorded the material from February through September 1980 and produced the sessions. CBS Schallplatten GesmbH in Vienna issued the completed material as Aphorisms Insane.
