Mauro Pelosi -

Mauro Pelosi (born Aug. 26, 1949) is an Italian singer-songwriter who emerged with the 1972/73 Polydor albums La Stagione per Morire and Al Mercato Degli Uomini Piccoli, the former recorded with members of PFM and Il Balletto di Bronzo. He reemerged with a 1977 self-titled album involving Garybaldi and New Trolls alumni. Pelosi perused travel after his 1979 album Il Signore dei Gatti but returned in 2019 with Acqua Sintetica.

Background

Mauro Pelosi was born Aug. 26, 1949, in Rome, where he took up songwriting as a teenager. At nineteen, he drove his father’s Fiat 600 to Milan with a guitar and songs for record-company auditions.

Pelosi briefly signed with Belldisc, where a newly appointed artistic director canceled the agreement within several months without a release. Pelosi entered compulsory military service in 1969 under Italian conscription. Upon discharge, he returned to Milan for further auditions.

Pelosi took songs to Phonogram with Patty Pravo in mind as an interpreter following her move from RCA Italiana to Philips. Phonogram manager Antonio Cocco heard the material and told Pelosi the personal songs required Pelosi as singer. Cocco brought arranger-conductor Detto Mariano into the project, while Pelosi signed with Phonogram for release on Polydor.

In 1972, Pelosi debuted with the Polydor single “Vent’anni di galera” (b/w “Suicidio”). Pelosi and Mariano completed the sessions for the December Polydor debut La stagione per morire.
