The Decorators were an English post-punk band that released the 1980 single “Twilight View” on the Buzzcocks‘ New Hormones label, followed by the 1982–83 titles Tablets and Rebel Songs on Red Flame.

Background
The Decorators formed in 1980 in Acton, west London, as a five-piece with singer-guitarist Mick Bevan, guitarist Johnny Gilani, bassist Steve Sandor, saxophonist Joe Cohen (Joe Sax), and drummer Allan Boroughs.
Cohen was brother-in-law of New Hormones manager Richard Boon, who agreed to release the first Decorators single. They recorded four songs with Different Kitchen producer Martin Rushent at Eden Studios in London. The Decorators released “Twilight View” (b/w “Reflections”) in July 1980 on New Hormones and played Fulham Greyhound on July 4 in London. They appeared the next night at Nashville Room and reached the Manchester Beach Club for a Sept. 3 engagement.
The Decorators released the three-track “Pendulum & Swinge” single with “Rendezvous” and “Strange One” in February 1981 on Red Records. Island A&R man Andrew Lauder pursued an agreement with the group, but the arrangement ended after Lauder moved to Demon Records. The Decorators signed with Red Flame and expanded to six with keyboardist Pete Saunders, an original member of Dexys Midnight Runners who subsequently toured with The Damned. They released “Strange One” in June 1982 as the immediate lead-in to debut album Tablets.
