Rosie Vela is an American singer–songwriter and former model who released the 1986 A&M album Zazu with backing by Donald Fagen and Walter Becker, who later renewed their Steely Dan partnership.
Rosie was born Roseanne Vela on December 18, 1952, in Galveston, Texas, and attended the University of Arkansas. After a brief marriage to a terminally ill musician, she moved to New York and modeled for fashion magazines and TV commercials. In 1980, she played a bit part opposite Kris Kristofferson’s during the graduation scene in Heaven’s Gate, a big-budget epic Western by Deer Hunter director Michael Cimino.
