Ian Thomas (born July 23, 1950) is a Canadian songwriter, guitarist, and singer who released six albums on GRT between 1973 and 1979 — including three with his namesake backing band — and three further titles on Anthem between 1981 and 1985. His 1981 album The Runner features several songs that were covered by high-profile artists of the period, including Santana (“Hold On”), Chicago (“Chains”), and Manfred Mann’s Earth Band (“The Runner”).
