Bettye Lavette – Souvenirs (aka Child of the Seventies) (1972)

Souvenirs is an archival collection by American soul singer Bettye Lavette, released in 2000 on Art & Soul. The tracklist compiles a would-have-been 12-song album recorded circa 1972 with both sides of an actual single release from that year, plus four 1962/63 7″ sides. Of the 12 vaulted tracks, two had been released in mono as a 1973 Atco single. In 2006, the collection was again issued, this time as Child of the Seventies with four additional tracks on Rhino Handmade. The intended album was recorded 10 years into her musical career and a decade prior to her first full-length release, 1982’s Tell Me a Lie.
