Arpaderba was an Italian symphonic-folk band that released the 1981 album L’aleph on In-Contro.

Background

Arpaderba emerged in 1980 as a four-piece around drummer-percussionist Vincenzo Martorella, guitarist Mario Torta, and two multi-instrumentalists: Enzo Ciotola (guitars, mandolin, viola) and Antonio Martorella (keyboards, marimba, accordion, percussion).

Antonio Martorella was born in 1957 and took up keyboards and accordion at age eight. He joined the folk group Compagnia della Porta at age twenty. Martorella left the group after two records to study electronic music.

As sessions commenced, Arpaderba hired auxiliary guitarist Nanni Civitenga, a prior member of Samadhi and Raccomandata Ricevuta di Ritorno.
