Background

Genfuoco formed in the mid-1970s in Siena, Tuscany, within the international Gen Christian movement. The group self-produced the nine-song cassette Antichi confini in December 1975 under the name Gen Fuoco (Gen Fire). Genfuoco used the movement circuit for appearances at European Genfest festivals.

Live recordings from 1976–78 document multiple lineups that included percussionist Marco Scala and drummer Marco Masotti alongside members of the later LP lineup. By 1979, Genfuoco comprised singer and multi-instrumentalist Marco Borgogni (vocals, flute, acoustic guitar), bassist Giovanni De Luca, drummer Marco Naldini, guitarist Paolo De Luca, saxophonist-guitarist Tarcisio Bratto, and keyboardist Franco Cecchi. Genfuoco recorded the first LP for Città Nuova with this six-piece lineup.
