Jox was a French symphonic-folk band that released the 1982 album Joxifications on F.L.V.M.
Members: Thiery Flajoliet (flute, oboe, electric guitar, vocals), Jean-Michel Grosgurin (piano, synthesizer), Jean-Claude Larrieu (bass, vocals), Jean-Francois Quinchon (electric-acoustic guitar, 12-string guitar, vocals)
Background
Jox formed at École Polytechnique in Palaiseau among four students of the 1979 promotion: flutist-oboist Thierry Flajolet, keyboardist Jean-Michel Grosgurin, bassist Jean-Claude Larrieu, and guitarist Jean-François Quinchon. The quartet developed within the student music activity that occupied the Palaiseau campus through the final two years of the promotion.
Jox obtained support from the École Polytechnique Department of Humanities and Social Sciences for a 33-rpm recording project. In March 1982, the group recorded and mixed Joxifications at Studio Sextan in Malakoff with technical production through F.L.V.M., the Bessancourt operation known as Faites Le Vous-Même.

Sources
- La Jaune et la Rouge, No. 377, September 1982, p. 13. This is the key contemporary source. It identifies all four Jox members as students from promotion X79, places the group within two years of musical activity at École Polytechnique, calls the music folk progressif, and states that the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences helped the group record Joxifications. The notice also advertises copies through the student KES in Palaiseau.
- Original Joxifications sleeve. The back cover corrects the current JRS spelling to Thierry Flajolet and gives the four-member instrumentation. It also states: recorded and mixed at Studio Sextan, Malakoff, in March 1982, with technical production credited to F.L.V.M. at 23 Grande Rue, Bessancourt. Internet Archive sleeve scans
- Studio Sextan. The studio remains based in Malakoff; its history traces the operation there to 1978. (Studio Sextan)
- F.L.V.M. MusicBrainz expands the name as Faites Le Vous-Même. A French account of the operation describes F.L.V.M. as a structure that allowed unsigned artists to issue privately pressed records. Contemporary business records place FLVM at the same 23 Grande Rue address printed on the Jox sleeve. (MusicBrainz)
- Jean-Claude Larrieu. SNCF independently confirms his École Polytechnique graduation in 1982, consistent with the X79 identification in the contemporary school publication. (groupe-sncf.com)
