Black Sabbath ‎– Paranoid (1970)

Paranoid is the sophomore longplayer from English metal band Black Sabbath, released in 1970 on Vertigo.

“Jack the Stripper/Fairies Wear Boots” – matted octave guitar figure in G over rudimental tribal beat…band commences @:13, shifting the key center to A for eight bars (more slide notes), then Bx8… closed-cadence power-chords disrupt the intro at :40, back and forth with open cadence licks (Dm)… structure resolves in the flow of Gmin @1:15, heralding song proper… Ozzy enters at 1:29, rendered with a slightly distant, distorted tone… vocal flairup on “saw you with my own two eyes” (read lyrics: about a cannabis hallucination… about a skinhead attack from Butler’s account)… cuts to solo over verse structure at 1:40, wiling Iommi leads, pronounced Butler basslines…. Tensing/tightening at 3:30, switching to a flowing cadence with precise leads in A, then B… power-chord sustains and runaway drumrolls reassert at 3:59, ushering return to song proper… takes on a strutting groove with a syncopated drum pattern (emphasizing the 3 and 6 of 8)… Outro commences at 5:29, bendy leads give into a ¾ double-triad that carries to the fadeout at 6:10
