Vita Nova were a Munich-based symphonic/psych trio comprised of German multi-instrumentalist Eddy Marron, Yugoslavian keyboardist Sylvester Levay, and Swiss drummer Christian von Hoffmann. The band released a self-titled album in 1971 on the Austrian Life Records label.
Members: Eddy Marron (lead vocals, bass, zaz, guitar), Sylvester Levay (keyboards, percussion, vocals), Christian von Hoffmann (drums, percussion, vocals)
Marron — credited on the Vita Nova album as “Ed Ugly-Ugly” — subsequently joined Dyzan and played on Missus Beastly‘s 1974 self-titled album. He later formed the jazz-rock trio Giger Lenz Marron with percussionist and Någarå label-head Peter Giger.
During the mid-1970s, Sylvester Levay served as co-director behind Euro disco trio Silver Convention. He later moved to Hollywood and found success as a soundtrack composer.
