Masabumi Kikuchi

Masabumi Kikuchi — 菊地 雅章 (Oct. 19, 1939 — July 6, 2015) — was a Japanese jazz pianist and composer who served as a backing musician for saxophonist Sadao Watanabe during the late 1960s. In 1969, Kikuchi formed a surnamesake quintet with trumpeter Terumasa Hino for one album on Columbia’s Takt Jazz series. Between 1970 and 1973, Kikuchi issued a string of titles in solo and collaborative form on Philips, followed by a run of mid-decade releases on East Wind.
