Kraan

Kraan is a German jazz-rock/funk band that was initially active during the 1970s and early 1980s. Marked by the bold, punctual bass-work of Hellmut Hattler, the band released eight studio albums and a live double-LP between 1972 and 1982.

Members: Hellmut Hattler (bass), Jan Fride (drums), Peter Wolbrandt (guitar), Johannes Pappert (saxophone, 1970-76), Ingo Bischof (keyboards, 1975-2007), Tommy Goldschmidt (drums, 1977), Udo Dahmen (drums, 1977-80), Gerry Brown (drums, 1982-83), Mark McMillen (keyboards, vocals, 1982-83), Eef Albers (guitar, 1982-83)


Kraan was formed in 1970 Ulm by bassist Hellmut Hattler (b. 1952), guitarist Peter Wolbrandt and his younger brother, drummer Jan Fride. The original four-piece was rounded by saxophonist Johannes Pappert. This lineup lasted five years and recorded four studio albums.
