Jazz Q were a Czech post-bop/jazz-rock ensemble from Praha that was active for 21 years, starting in 1964. In 1970, the band collaborated with psych-rockers Blue Effect on the album Coniunctio, issued that year on Supraphon.
In 1973, the band recorded the Panton album Pozorovatelna / The Watch-Tower as Jazz Q Praha. The album features a guest-vocal by English singer Joan Duggan, who figures more prominently on the 1974 Supraphon release Symbiosis.
During 1976 and 1977, the band recorded an EP as part of Panton’s Mini Jazz Klub series and also contributed three songs to the label’s Jazzrocková Dílna 2 album, which also features cuts by Energit and Impuls. The band’s remaining seven years produced four further albums on Supraphon.
