James Blood Ulmer

Willie James Ulmer (born Feb. 2, 1942) is an American avant-jazz/rock guitarist from Saint Matthews, SC, who played on albums by Rashied Ali Quintet, Larry Young, Joe Henderson, and Arthur Blythe during the 1970s. He went solo with the album Tales of Captain Black on Artists House in 1979, followed by titles on Rough Trade and Columbia/CBS during the 1980s.
