Manuel Göttsching ‎– Inventions for Electric Guitar (1975)

Inventions for Electric Guitar is an album by German guitarist Manuel Göttsching, released in 1975 on Kosmische Musik. Concurrent issues on Orh (France) and PDU (Italy) credit the album to his band, Ash Ra Temple, despite this being an entirely solo recording.

“Echo Wave” – echoey arpegiated multi-notes in E (1-5-1)…dark low-E bass sound underlies tight middle notes, perculating… starting around 4:00 a overlying minimalistic melody weaves around the bass figure (emphasized 3rd notes)… sparkley sound weaves in and out at the 7:00-minute rage… stacotto multinote E frame persists… glistening sound spirals in and out in the 10-minute range…darker tones engulf around 12:00…. Choppy Jet-like sounds emerge, slow to a crawl at 13:25… more arpeggiated sounds emerge, taking things to Dflat as wailing, treated guitars flank the piece at remote angles… soaring, spacey soloing over pulsating processed rhthms carries things through the final stretch… Overall.. a hypnotic, electronic feel, despite being made entirely with processed guitar sounds…
